I am happy to announce that Belly Dance! Studio will be hosting the Belly Dancer of the Year Workshops! Our studio and this Competition have a long history together; they were both started by Sula Frick. This year, the competition will be held at the Orinda Library Memorial Day Weekend. It has been a staple in my calendar since I started taking belly dance classes in 2001. It is a place where dancers bring out their best and put their art all out there for you. I hope you all take advantage of this event that happens right in our backyard!
The will be taught by last years' winner Zhanna, and former winner Maria. Click the link below to find out all the information including workshop topics and price.
Happy Spring, dancers!
We are happy to announce that all classes have resumed as usual. There will be ongoing touch-ups to the space over the next week or two, so we hope that it causes no inconveniences to the classes. Again, if you have any questions about your account during the closure please contact us and we will happily fix you right up. Hope to see you soon!
Well, I don't know about you, but for me, February flew by. We were really ambitious to finish construction in 4 weeks, and as construction goes, we had a wee little setback. So we need ONE MORE WEEK before we get back to classes as usual. Here are the details:
*We will have one more mixed level Saturday class at OPEN BARRE in Walnut Creek. 11:45-12:45, March 4th. Sign up online or in person before class.
*On Saturday, March 11 Saturday Classes will be held as usual with an Open House studio party to follow. We will have snacks and refreshments and possibly some class demos and a performance! Please come by and bring a friend who is curious about belly dancing, or if you have somebody who might be interested in teaching or renting the studio.
*As promised, we are extending all class packages bought in January or February to accommodate the time we were closed. If your class pass shows up as expired just let Tabitha know, or e-mail us and we will fix you right up.
*Lastly, make sure you find us on Facebook (link is at the bottom of this email) to stay up-to-date on all studio news, as well as inspiring belly dance videos.
Sunday, February 26 at 6:00PM
El Morocco Restaurant, Pleasant Hill
$30 per person, includes soup, Bastilla, entree, dessert, tea & tax and tip.
Student Nights are always a special event for us. It's a time for students to get out there and perform and also watch and be inspired by all the dancing. It is also a way to just hang out with all the ladies from our studio! This February, though we haven't had a studio in a month, will be no different! Our "theme" is Alternative Music, where our dancers can choose to dance to their favorite non-Arabic song if they choose. This night is always SO MUCH FUN, and full of surprises!
Tickets can be purchased in person during our Saturday classes at OPEN BARRE, or can be purchased by credit card through your Mind Body account. If you have any questions, please e-mail us! email@example.com
This is it, folks. This is the Biggie. Belly Dance! Studio is getting a makeover, in a HUGE way. New floor, new mirrors, new bathroom. The works! Sadly though, we will have to close our doors for the month of February. But here are some important things to remember:
Our LAST CLASS will be MONDAY, JAN 30th
We will have classes once a week at OPEN BAR in Walnut Creek on Saturdays at 11:45, mixed level, everybody is welcome. Payment details TBD.
All class passes will be extended for an extra 30 days, so even if you can't come to the Saturday classes at Open Bar, you will be able to pick up right where you left off when we re-open.
And finally, we will have a GRAND RE-OPENING PARTY!!! Once all the paint dries and all the finishing touches are in place I will send out an Evite. I AM SO EXCITED!!
On a stormy Sunday in January, 8 Belly Dance! students and friends ventured out to San Francisco for a "Mini Student Night" at Marrakech Restaurant. Though it was small, it was mighty! My friend, Tim, took some AMAZING shots. Marrakech restaurant is a perfect, picturesque background for belly dancing. Combine that with food and friends...what could be better??
